Thinkng process

Four ways of seeing I picked up before UX that still run everything I make

Framing

My background in photography shaped how I think about editing before I ever touch a screen. I spent more time in the darkroom than behind the camera, reworking a print until only the necessary part survives. That's the same instinct I bring to a screen: knowing what it doesn't need before deciding what it does

Why & Who

Before UX, I spent five years on the business side of creative work, split between a commercial photography company and art galleries. A client's brief and an artist's intention were rarely the same conversation. I still ask why something's being made and who it's for before I think of how

Systems & Orientation

Cycling is my daily, hands on relationship with how systems guide, or fail to guide, the people moving through them. Traffic lights, lane markings, signage, it's all wayfinding under pressure. That's the question I bring to an interface: does the person moving through it know where they are

Precision Under Pace

Detail oriented work comes naturally, partly because I practice it outside of design too, in things like specialty coffee and motorsport. Both reward the same instinct: doing the small, unglamorous work, because nobody notices until it's wrong. I hold interface details to that same standard, and use AI to buy back time for that work
